The Edge Of Glory - If Anything Could Be More Aries!

Aries and "The Edge Of Glory"

You must think I spend a lot of time in my car since I often write about songs that I have listened while driving and my thoughts come to me behind the wheel and yes, I do spend a lot of my time driving. This morning I heard a song by Lady Gaga  - The Edge of Glory. It was a nice and sunny day still a bit chilly though. This song made me think of everything Aries. With Aries there comes the Spring and our new hope. Yes, and there comes Easter too and family get together marathon begins. Easter egg hunts, spring cleaning and purging (after the egg hunt). As I was driving and listening to the song I wanted to drive faster, perhaps drive to the edge, drive somewhere I have never been before, have fun, dance, be that glamour girl I dream of being from time to time. See, this is what a little sunshine, no traffic and a nice wide road and Lady Gaga’s song on my radio do to me. Ok, there are many things I love about this season but let’s go back to Lady Gaga.
Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta known by her stage name Lady Gaga was born on March 28th, 1985. Lady Gaga is an American singer, songwriter, philanthropist and activist. Lady Gaga is as Aries as one can get – her Sun in Aries and her Venus are in Aries but not only that, Aries is very dominant in her chart – Mars is her ruling planet. Keep in mind that one does not need to have most of their planets in one sign to be predominantly that sign as astrologers look at various things such as ruling planets, houses etc. Every time I think of Aries through the eyes of an astrologer I see the new beginnings, the territories unexplored, the new lands, new ways, the boldness to be different and not just for the sake of it or just as a show off. Lady Gaga shows us all of these qualities; she worked her way up with fierce determination (also because of her Mars in Capricorn), she is business minded, she showed us a new kind of music and a new kind of thinking, new fashion that is so Aries; she is outspoken about her philosophies on “being different”, she has been there, she is different without us feeling like she is trying too hard. Aries is also a fire sign – there is kind of a raw, primal energy that comes with this sign. Leo (Madonna) has a fiery energy too, but it is not that basic, earthy, ready to explore the unknown kind. Madonna, for instance makes her audience see that every step in her performance is planned and is made to be perfect so we can all admire the act which is not a bad thing. Lady Gaga’s Aries approach is also planned but the audience feels like they are there for the ride, to have fun and to explore – Lady Gaga doesn’t care if she looks perfect – she is giving her best to entertain us but to also make us think about her songs, her thoughts. Her song Born This Way serves as a tool to communicate her feelings about being straight, gay, bisexual or whatever – we are all people and we all deserve a place on this Earth. Lady Gaga has her Moon in Scorpio which enables her to really see into human psychology and deal with her emotions in her unique way. Her Mercury is in Pisces gives her a perfect way to artistically communicate with her audience.
I have chosen a song I Am On The Edge Of Glory to illustrate the Astrology of Lady Gaga – Aries is always on the edge, it is like fire, her Venus in Aries is out there ready to conquer, Moon in Pisces stands for her intuitive mind. Mercury in Pisces is a bit of an escapist and an artist that doesn’t mind being on the edge, Mars in Capricorn is determined – Lady Gaga is not only a performer – singer, but she also composes and plays her own music. Look at the planets we mentioned above and try to think of them as you are listening to the song. See the planets come alive in their roles and make a wonderful play. Can you guess Lady Gaga’s Ascendant? My bet is she is a Sagittarius rising. Let me know if you have any thoughts. For now Sag it is - the eternal optimist knowing the things will just get better even if you are living on “the edge.”

Western Skies Tonight

Moon, Jupiter and Venus

Another beautiful night! We can see crescent Moon just below Jupiter and Venus. Hopefully we will all be able to enjoy this view in the west during the next several days. Tomorrow, March 25th, we will observe Moon and Jupiter closest to each other and the next day on March 26th, we will be able to see Moon and Venus very close together. This is really a unique view! And just above Venus you will be able to see "The Pleiades" - known also as The Seven Sisters. This star cluster is visible to the naked eye. The Pleiades are located in the constellation of Taurus. The Pleiades are a prominent sight in winter in the Northern Hemisphere and in summer in the Southern Hemisphere, and have been known since antiquity to cultures all around the world.

Spring

Spring Is In The Air

High winds this morning and some rain mixed with it do not make me feel like it is spring time, however, spring arrives early in an astronomical and astrological kind of sense this year. In fact, this year spring will make its earliest arrival since the late 19th century: 1896, to be exact. With spring, there comes the urge to open our windows, to listen to the birds, to de-clutter our closets, our homes, to be more outgoing and to be more active. We have a Pisces stellium of Moon, Chiron and Neptune and a stelium in Aries - Sun, Mercury and Uranus. What makes today's chart interesting too, is the Grand Earth Trine which is keeping us grounded.

Another interesting fact for those who might like it - today is International Astrology Day. It is observed most often on March 20 or 21 - on the day when the Sun enters the first sign of the zodiac - Aries. But more on Aries later. Happy spring and happy new beginnings to you all!

Kurt Cobain - A Pisces Poster Child

It would not be a Pisces month without mentioning Kurt Cobain. Kurt Cobain may as well have been a Pisces poster-child. The former Nirvana musician had his Sun, Mercury, Venus and Saturn in Pisces. His Moon is in Cancer - also a water sign. Add to that a Sun square Neptune which attaches even more Piscean flavor to his chart) Kurt's sensitive artistic image was no doubt far more than just that. Jupiter and Moon in Cancer, mars, South Node and Neptune in Scorpio for a Water Grand Trine with his planets in Pisces.

Astrology is interesting and it always fascinates me. There are endless variations, combinations, conjunctions, trines and oppositions forming a fascinating mosaic of our lives. I am also a Pisces. And my Sun, Moon, Mercury and Venus are in Pisces. I also have a Sun square Neptune yet my life path has been significantly different from Kurt's.

Anyway, as I am writing this I hear the rain. It is late and I feel like I am re-living my "early 1990s" in Seattle, listening to Nirvana, longing for the sun, feeling different and "grungy" in a Starbucks drinking, philosophical city called the Emerald City - now I know why. I am a student at the UW, on the Ave, used bookstore kind of a girl, admiring Seattle music scene and having a time of my life. Seagulls, city lights, Gasworks Park, Pike Place Market…Rain, wind, sadness...And that is why I thought of Kurt Cobain tonight as my Pisces poster-child. So my friends that are Pisces I say to you - no more self-pity :) Ha...

Can you see Saturn?

The five brightest planets - Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn - have been known since ancient times and can easily be seen with the naked eye if one knows when and where to look. Saturn has been known to stargazers since long, long time ago because it is easily visible to the naked eye. Not until the invention of the telescope, however, did people observe Saturn's magnificent rings. In 1610 Galileo Galilei became the first person to see Saturn with a telescope. So if you want to see Saturn through a telescope - even a modest telescope will enable you to see it’s glorious rings.

Saturn is easy to find during this year, near the bright star Spica in the constellation Virgo. In March Saturn and Spica reach their high point in the sky around 3 a.m. You will also be able to see Saturn on nights when it’s near the Moon.

March is a big month for viewing planets, we are able to see Venus (dusk/mid-evening), Mars (dusk to late evening), Jupiter (early evening to day break) and Saturn (early hours to day break).

Wherever you may live, I wish you fun stargazing and for the rest of us here in the Pacific Northwest - let's hope for no rain!

Venus And Jupiter Dance In Closeness

Venus conjunct Jupiter - a marriage of two happy planets.  You can watch this on the western skies on March 13 and 14, 2012.  What a happy couple! Even if things are not going well for you or for us, this conjunction alone can make you feel good.  Venus is about partnerships, love, courtship and Jupiter brings calmness, happiness and abundance.  Your may say - well what about Mercury going retrograde.  Just think of how much larger Jupiter is and also, astrologers always take into a consideration that no matter how "bad" something in you chart may look, the fact that you have Jupiter there somewhere will offset the negative.  So just simply enjoy this beautiful conjunction of Venus and Jupiter.  It is for sure a rare occurrence - what a beautiful dance of the Planets.  As if they we almost holding hands.  Truly spectacular.

How Are You Coping With This? Riding The Waves Of The Solar Dance

When I was looking out of my living room window today admiring the interesting formation of the clouds, the Sun shining through, the rays of Sun, little did I know that in a few hours I would learn that one of my son's favorite teachers had passed away. She was 61 years old. I was surprised by my own reaction to this - by the fact that I cried, right there at the parent meeting tonight. It was so unexpected. I can blame it on the Moon, the Sun and on everything. When it comes to my clients I am always so strong, I feel like I understand life, life and death and all that comes with it. But it only takes one thing and you feel like you don't understand it at all. When I got home from the meeting I shared the sad news with my son and my husband. My son was sad, very sad but he told me something very interesting - mom I just don't cry when people die anymore. He has never experienced death really - other than our adopted dog that my son knew since he was a baby. During those day he was happy with a simple answer - all dogs to heaven and they can eat all the food they want there. My husband on the other hand said - well, she just is in another place now, she needed to go to that place, she has done all she was supposed to do here and now she has moved on. That answer surprised me too, since it was clearly what I believe but I guess I do not want to believe when it comes to a situation like this - when I loose someone who I think was wonderful, who was my family, my friend, my teacher and so on. So when I look at the picture I took form my window I do see our friend, our teacher. I see her and I think of her.

Anyway, this has been an interesting day and a week. How are you all riding the waves of the great solar dance of the skies?

The Sky

I am not sure if this has to do with what is going on in the skies above, but this cloud and the Sun shining through were very different today and I just had to share this picture with you.

Solar Storm And Aurora Borealis

Solar flares emit bursts of electromagnetic energy that hit Earth's magnetic field. We are experiencing a solar storm and the peak should be in 2013. GPS Satelites can be affected by these bursts of electromagnetic radiation. Scientists say that this cosmic activity will make it possible to see Aurora Borealis - the Northern Lights - further south. Being able to see it of course depends on the weather, the rain, the cloud patterns and so on.

"What Doesn't Kill You Makes You Stronger"

Virgo Full Moon accompanied by Mars in retrograde and close to Mercury retrograde is energetically challenging. We may feel full of energy during one moment and completely drained during the next. Virgo Full Moon is just trying to build our character, test our patience and strength. Frustrating as it may seem tomorrow, don't let it get you down. Go with the flow. Kelly Clarkson makes a point with her song "What Doesn't Kill You Makes You Stronger" and as I listened to the song on my way home tonight, I thought to myself - "Ah, what a perfect Virgo Full Moon song!"
Full Moon in Virgo, Solar Storms, Mars in retrograde, Uranus in Aries almost square to Pluto in Capricorn...what is going on? How are we experiencing these times? Are we tired, sad, disappointed?

The Full Moon - What Is Next?

Virgo Full Moon will occur tomorrow, March 8th. The goals we have set and the dreams we have manifested during the last New Moon in Pisces come to surface and in one way or another Virgo Moon keeps us in constant check whether these "tasks" so to speak were completed. During Virgo Full Moon we tend to be more critical or others, of our circumstances, of ourselves. This can be a volatile kind of time so it is better to avoid big conflicts and exchanges of ideas and keep flying low and mind our own business. Find a sanctuary or a cave whatever suits your taste. Being too hard on ourselves can make us just more irritated by our own imperfections, and make us feel guilty of tasks not finished, chapters not closed and all that unfinished business.

The Sun In Pisces And The Moon In Virgo

The Sun is in Pisces, the Moon is in Virgo (Are we just a little more obsessive now? Do we worry about our health? - It is that time!). The Full Moon on March 8th will be a little tougher to deal with. Mercury is in Aries and that aids us with saying things as they are which is a nice change since most of the time we do as we are always trained to do - we think one thing and say another. Venus is in Taurus but she is not as content this time around. Venus in Taurus when in love needs candles, soaps, nice linens, breakfast in bed - not just a bowl of cold cereal, she needs love and care, the music, the scents and since she is calm and takes her time, she needs time to warm up to romance if you know what I mean :) Pisces Sun is a dreamer, Moon in Virgo won't stop obsessing about the little things, Mercury in Aries is on the go. So here you go, the Temptress is left out in the cold. So watch out for some tension in your romantic life and don't forget to just go with the flow. Romance is on the back burner - at least for now - but not for long!

Dr. Seuss - The Pisces Within

The Lorax

The Lorax is officially in the movies! Dr. Seuss would have turned 108 today - March 2nd. The beloved children's author that could speak to different generations and still be timeless.
I read an article in the New York Post about this movie. The guy claims that the movie is boring, preachy and so on. He says that "even Al Gore’s ax was never so blunt." Well, I have to disagree with him. I am guessing that he has no kids and I just took a bunch of ten year old boys to see the movie tonight. They got it, they understood that the movie which is not a fast paced funny kind of a movie, has a message and a pretty compelling one. The children of today get it, they feel that something is wrong. They know what is right and what is not. The rest of us - the adults - we "just go with the flow" because we are told to do so. It is fine to have no trees, we are told we need to "buy" oxygen to survive. We are told to live a certain way and so we do it. If anyone would break that "wall" just like it happened in the movie, the people might wake up, we might see that anything is possible and that we do not need to continue to live like we think we need to live. No, I am not saying to you to stop paying the mortgage, nor to quit your job. I don't want to be accused of being preachy. But perhaps there are other avenues we may now look at and start thinking out of the box. Just because someone - and in this case - the villain O'Hare is telling us what to do and how to live - do we have to follow. Piscean Dr. Seuss would have enjoyed watching this movie as it closely followed the plot of his story that was not just once criticized for its moral.
The movie critic Kyle Smith from the New York Post calls the movie Snore-ax - he is not the only one to criticize the movie or the book - in the 80s some felt the book was unfair to the logging industry. I will let you decide for yourself.

The movie was released today, which makes it a Piscean themed movie as well. Since Pisces is the last sign of the zodiac and it marks the official end of the winter and is therefore associated with the harsher winter signs it tend to be a little apocalyptic but in a good way. Moon is in Cancer which gives the Lorax movie a caring and a defensive kind of spirit. Mars is in an opposition of the Sun which makes the movie critics be more critical and nasty. Luckily the Mars is still in retrograde so even though the critics may be nasty they don't bite too much. Jupiter in Taurus in the 11th House will help The Lorax get the real fans applause and that is what counts. 11th House is about friendships and it is ruled by Aquarius - that makes it so the movie has humanitarian undertones that are ruled by Jupiter in Taurus which is responsible for the movie's beautiful graphics and overall visual experience.

Pisces always see that after experiencing the deepest of the lows and the coldest of the Winter there comes a new hope of Spring emerging - and even if it is in a form of the smallest seed - that is all what matters to them.

With this all being said - and I hope I did not bore you to death - I will finish with a couple of my favorite quotes from The Lorax.

“Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot,
Nothing is going to get better. It's not.”
― Dr. Seuss, The Lorax

A tree falls the way it leans. Be careful which way you lean.”
― Dr. Seuss, The Lorax
