What We Want and What We Have - The Octopus and the La-La Land

Mercury and Uranus are in Aries and that can make us feel on the edge.  Sun in Taurus demands stability and predictability and Moon in Cancer wants a save haven.  In these times, there is no predictability, no stability and no safe haven.  It is normal that we are experiencing unsettled feelings, maybe we are feeling like things are not going our way.  Mercury in Aries brings a rush of emotions, thoughts, it brings us so many choices, some of which are good for us and some of which are not.  Uranus in Aries will continue to be with us until March 2019.  Are we ready for that?  Can we deal with that?  Uranus in Aries brings increased seismic activity, revolution, changes.  We may feel that we have less time, that we are always rushing and that our ideas, dreams and hopes get shot down all the time.  On top of all of that Mercury was square Pluto between April 22nd and April 26th.  Oh, what a time!

When I was a teenager in Europe I watched an Italian Television drama miniseries, La Piovra - The Octopus, referring to The Mafia.  It's main character, Corrado Cattani (Michele Placido) is a quiet cop who deliberately fights against the Mafia in his homeland, on the island of Sicily.  It is interesting, but this film (or miniseries) has a very Taurean psychology so to speak.  As a coincidence, Michele Placido is a Taurus too.  Placido is perfect for that role.  Corrado Cattani comes across as a strong and a tough guy.  He sacrifices everything - his whole life to fight against the corruption.  His struggles are endless.  This Taurus is just not going to give up.  The Taurus keeps going.  He is tireless.

So many times I hear that Taurus people are prone to be lazy and that they are just seeking luxury and an easy way out.  I have to counter that.  When we look at Taurus a little closer, there is an incredible force of persistence, strength and the will not to ever give up.

We may feel like our life is a struggle right now.  Is the Sun in Taurus to blame?  Does it perhaps reminds us that yes, indeed, our life is an uphill battle?  This short movie-preview just ties these feelings all together.  You may not want to watch it all, but anyway, Corrado Cattani dies at the end - he gets shot by his enemies.  As a parallel, our dreams too, may never flower to their potential reality.  Our ideas at work often get shot down.  Our life may seem like we are going to nowhere.  That is often my reality too.

But on the lighter note.  There are moments that we all dream of a perfect little world.  The second movie is one of my favorites - a song by Jimmy Cliff - I Can See Clearly Now.  Jimmy Cliff, an Aries with a Capricorn Moon is a Jamaican musician, singer and actor.  I Can See Clearly is an uplifting song.  Jimmy Cliff goes his own way, like an Aries would, in the song he goes forth to create his own happiness within.  Seeing the obstacles one may have but feeling overly positive and happy that things will be fine.  I catch myself drifting into the fantasy land at times too just to be awaken by the reality.  That is when La Piovra - The Octopus slaps me in the face.  Wake up!  And here I am, here we are. Two contrasting worlds, and our life always happens to unfold somewhere in between.

Move That Bull!

There is a show called Extreme Makeover: Home Edition hosted by Ty Pennington where they take a family home, send the family that lives in that home to a nice holiday and they (the crew) remodel or totally demolish and rebuild the house.  When the family returns, there is a bus right in their view, in front of the house so they can't see the house and everyone shouts "Move that bus!"  So the bus moves and the family screams of joy when they see their new dream home.

Taurus is about home, making of a home, the little and big luxuries we want or dream of.  Taurus is the ruler of the Second House of Resources.  This is interesting that in the time of the Hunger Games popularity (I will be writing about the Hunger Games later) some of us feel like we want to latch onto something familiar, cosy and happy.

But lets go back to the Extreme Makeover.  There have been many times that I dreamed of Ty Pennington knocking on my door and saying - "Andrea, we are here to remodel your ancient home!"  Wow!  I am mostly a city girl who grew up in a country until I was in school.  So the transition was big.  Then I stayed in the city - just moved from one country to another.  My life continued here but in the city until I moved way out to almost nowhere about eleven years ago.  The adjustment was hard.  And at night it was pitch dark.  Most neighbours were over 80 years old - please don't get offended if some of you my dear readers are in that age category.  I am a Pisces so one would think these transitions would be a piece of cake but with my Taurus Rising the changes were far the worst that I could have imagined.  I have adjusted.

Where am I going with this?  Well, I have longed to have a new home for a long time.  Living in the forest and on the beach has been great.  That all comes with a price - you are in the country, so there will always be animals around some of which you want to have around and some of which you rather not have around.  You get the picture.  Whales, eagles and deer is fine.
Months have gone by and my husband and I got through one remodel after another and that was not just changing the color of my kitchen cabinets, that was much more than that.  Having all of my brand new Cutco pots and pans all around my living room to catch the rain while our Buddy the brown lab was trying to lick every bowl, was entertaining only for a short while.  I guess you probably will not be eating dinner at my house for a while.  Stuff always happened when my husband was at work, when he was gone things were always breaking, the roof was leaking...  The winter wind storms left us without power many times and so I have learned to start the generator, to conserve water and so on.  Our friends and family always felt great at our home.  For all of you that long for a rustic life please know that the grass is always greener on the other side.  This house also cost us many headaches and near divorce experiences.  That all has passed know and we are laughing about that (until the next major thing brakes around here.)

This is were we raised our son until now and he is 10 now.  The memories of our family time, get-togethers, having our son's friends over, going to the beach, going to the forest, having bonfires, having fun - I will miss all of that.  One can't describe it all in one paragraph.

Moon in Cancer is making my sentimental thoughts about this home even more sentimental and clingy.  Cancer Moon can make us feel clingy and since the Sun is in Taurus that can make us feel worried about losing something, like a home or someone.  We are about to move closer to town, closer to our son's friends, closer to shopping.  I guess it is official now - our house is almost sold.  I will treasure these lovely memories of our home and I will try to forget about the bad ones.

Ty Pennington is not knocking on my door anytime soon.  My Taurus Rising is getting yet another karmic experience - the experience of total detachment and letting go.  That is challenge for Taureans and people that are Taurus Rising.  Even though I am a Pisces, I am a Taurus rising with dominant planet Venus.  Pisces would move anywhere, Pisces would adapt fast.  Not the Taurus!  The Bull wants to hold onto everything.  My chart is a perfect example of how different our Sun sign can be from our Ascendant or Rising sign.

I am not ready to be a Matador and tame that bull.  Instead of people shouting and chanting "Move That Bus"  I hear a distant inner voice saying "Move That Bull!"  and I say "Watch Out, Here It Comes!"

New Moon in Taurus on the 21st of April

Tonight you will be still be able to see the Crescent Moon and Venus.  Venus, the dazzling evening "star"  has been shining brighter than any true star in the night sky.  You will be able to find the constellation Orion just to the left of the Moon.  It will not be here for long as the sky will be changing.

I have been so busy lately that I completely forgot to mention the New Moon in Taurus that occurred on the 21st of April.  It is an irony, but I longed for some peace during that time, I wanted to be connected with the "mother Earth", hug a tree, work in my garden... What I got was an extremely busy week that was far from what Venus and Taurus had in store for me.  I felt like I was still "stuck" in last month's Aries.  C'est la vie...

New Moon in Taurus will bring us fertile soil, great harvest to come.  It is a great time to sow the seeds and to let the Universe know what we want, what are our wishes.  They will for sure come to fruition but it will take some time.  Taurus teaches us to be patient.

Is Taurus Patient?

IT'S NO GOOD

(Lyrics by Martin Gore - Depeche Mode)
I am going to take my time
I have all the time in the world
To make you mine
It is written in the stars above
The gods decree
You'll be right here by my side
Right next to me
You can run but you cannot hide

Don't say you want me
Don't say you need me
Don't say you love me
It's understood
Don't say you're happy
Out there without me
I know you can't be
'Cause it's no good

I'll be fine
I'll be waiting patiently
Till you see the signs
And come running to my open arms
When will you realize
Do we have to wait 'till our worlds collide
Open up your eyes
You can't turn back the tide
...
I am going to take my time
I have all the time in the world
To make you mine
It is written in the stars above
...

Every time I hear this song I think of many Taurean symbolisms that are depicted in the lyrics.  I am sure Martin Gore did not write this because of astrology but hey, let me share some of my thoughts on this.

The first two lines are about taking the time and having "all the time in the world".  Well, most Taureans feel like they have the time on their side.  They are the masters of making the time, waiting and slowing down the fast pace of life we are all experiencing.  The third line is about wanting to make his partner "his"  which is borderline possessive and materialistic at the same time.  I don't mean it in a bad way, but Taureans tend to feel like they have an ownership of the person they share their life with or they are entitled to having their partner's full attention.  The fourth line talks about the fate being sealed and "written in the stars."  This symbolizes a strong Taurean connection to the Universe, the Earth and the nature - after all this is an Earth sign!

"I'll be fine, I'll be waiting patiently" are the lines from the third paragraph and they are about patience.  Patience is this sign's virtue.  It is the most treasured one and the most awkward one.  It is great to be patient but do we really have "all the time in the world?"  What is your experience with time?  Do you feel like we are living in a much faster moving time then we were a decade or two ago?  Do you think we can create more time?  How do you make more time?  Do you slow down?  Relax?  Unwind?

As we are approaching our next astrological era, we are all experiencing the quickening of time.  It is normal.  It is part of life.  It may be an illusion (instant messaging, computers and impatient bosses) or a physical fact or a combination of both.  I will leave it up to you to decide.  I think there is no right or wrong answer.

Anyway,  I started writing and forgot to mention a few words about Depeche Mode and its lead singer Dave Gahan - a typical Taurus, born on May 9, 1962 into a working class family in Essex.  In March 1980 Gahan formed a band with Vince Clarke, Martin Gore and Andrew Fletcher called the Composition of Sound which became the spring board of Depeche Mode (named after a fashion magazine).  Dave Gahan's dominant planets are the Moon, Venus and Neptune.  Feelings, charm and mystery.

I am including a couple of songs by this British group.  I guess I am reminiscing - maybe this type of music will be played in retirement homes when I get to be in my eighties or nineties.  But for now I am just reminiscing.  The first song is New Life and the second is It's No Good - the guys are so young!  Anyway, people born under this Zodiac sign usually have a beautiful and natural voice.  Gahan's voice just got better with time!  His patience has paid off :)

Taurus: A Day In The Life

I have never posted the link to the movie about Taurus.  As I was finishing my blog post last night I intended to post that link but I guess a long and an interesting (to say the least) work day made me tired.  So here is the link:
Taurus: A Day In The Life: This is an essential guide to the day in the life of a Taurus. Learn what to actually expect when spending a day with those born between April 20th and May 20th, and see just what a Taurus is really like.

Taurus

The Sun is officially in Taurus now and it is here to stay for a month.  Taurus is the second sign of the Zodiac and the ruler of the second house - the house of resources.  People often refer to this house as the house of money and material things but we know that has been shifting lately and resources can mean many different things among which are those of the non-material form.  Taurus is an Earth sign, it is closely connected with the soil and all that comes from the soil.  Just as the soil has been cultivated by people and farmers for years and years, Taurus has been waiting patiently for the fruits of the hard work and the cycle repeats year after year.  It reminds us that things can't be rushed.  Patience is its virtue.  I can't picture any other sign being so patient with the changing of seasons and the timing when cultivating the Earth.  Gemini would get too impatient, Scorpio not interested at all, Pisces would get lost in their thoughts.  Taurus is the perfect sign when one needs a steady and a reliable work to be done.  Taurus is also a fixed sign (the season has settled).  Taureans are considered easygoing and placid, they are slow to anger but if pushed too far, they can be raging.  The ruling planet of Taurus is Venus.  Venus is all about creativity and appreciation of life's little (and big) luxuries.  Let me finish with a small movie about Taurus.  It is funny but don't take it too seriously.  But I do have to say Taurus really appreciates good food, good drinks and a comfortable and cosy environment.

Libra Moon In Harmony With Aries Sun

April 6th was the first of the five Supermoons in 2012.  Supermoon is when we experience full moon or new moon and when the Moon is closest to the Earth on its elliptical orbit.  The Moon was in Libra.  During this time we may have experienced testing of our relationships.  Everyone is a combination of different zodiac signs, we all have an Aries side and a Libra side.  We can be the leaders, we can be the diplomats.  Aries and Libra are opposite signs of the Zodiac.  Aries is a fire sign and Libra is an air sign.  Two opposites can magically create a beautiful harmony.  Aries is the explorer, the child of the zodiac and Libra is the one seeking partnerships and peace within the partnerships.  Does Libra go its own way?  Well, it depends.  Libra is Venus, Aries is Mars.  Mars is all about power and Venus is about diplomacy.  During this time of the year, when the Sun is in Aries we might feel like we need to be Aries for a little while.  We may feel like we need to get up and explore the world, to stand up for ourselves.  And to be able to stand up for ourselves is just another manifestation of Mars, the ruling planet of Aries.

What we were experiencing around the 6th of April was our urge to be Arian that was deeply rooted in our heart but at the same time our emotions were keeping us in check with emotional and somewhat needy Libra Sun.  Librans are the diplomats of the Zodiac and at its worst they can also be emotionally needy and dependent on the opinions of others.
When the Sun is in Aries and the Moon is in Libra we can experience a mixture of emotions - we might feel like we need to detach from our relationships for a while, we may feel the urge to feel guilty about having the need to either be free or having the desire to be in a relationship.  Dealing with Sun-Moon emotions is tricky.  One does not need to analyze it all the time but it is fun to see in what sign is the Sun and the Moon.  By seeing and knowing the Sun and the Moon sign we may better understand subtle hints of our emotions. At times when the Sun sign is the same as the Moon sign we may feel more harmony especially if the sign is our own or in the same element as our own.

By the time I finally finished writing this post the Moon moved into Capricorn.  Planning, working on projects, getting things done is what we tend to do during this time.  And if you have some planets in Capricorn, you may get hung up on small details that really don't matter.  Speaking from experience.  I guess tomorrow is another day and I only have to work for a few hours to finish some stuff and then I am off!  Time to enjoy life and hopefully catch up on some blogging.  As the Moon moves into Aquarius we all may feel like having fun with friends and getting out.  And really, that is what life is about.

The Owl And When Mercury Goes Direct

What's up with astrology tomorrow, April 4th? Mercury will go direct which is always a good thing for most folks. Venus will go into Gemini tomorrow as well. We are two days away from having Full Moon. And, as I write this I can hear an owl. It has been a while since I last heard him. Perhaps it is a sign of spring coming or just another "spooky" almost full moon night far away from what I call civilization.
