What We Want and What We Have - The Octopus and the La-La Land
Mercury and Uranus are in Aries and that can make us feel on the edge. Sun in Taurus demands stability and predictability and Moon in Cancer wants a save haven. In these times, there is no predictability, no stability and no safe haven. It is normal that we are experiencing unsettled feelings, maybe we are feeling like things are not going our way. Mercury in Aries brings a rush of emotions, thoughts, it brings us so many choices, some of which are good for us and some of which are not. Uranus in Aries will continue to be with us until March 2019. Are we ready for that? Can we deal with that? Uranus in Aries brings increased seismic activity, revolution, changes. We may feel that we have less time, that we are always rushing and that our ideas, dreams and hopes get shot down all the time. On top of all of that Mercury was square Pluto between April 22nd and April 26th. Oh, what a time!
When I was a teenager in Europe I watched an Italian Television drama miniseries, La Piovra - The Octopus, referring to The Mafia. It's main character, Corrado Cattani (Michele Placido) is a quiet cop who deliberately fights against the Mafia in his homeland, on the island of Sicily. It is interesting, but this film (or miniseries) has a very Taurean psychology so to speak. As a coincidence, Michele Placido is a Taurus too. Placido is perfect for that role. Corrado Cattani comes across as a strong and a tough guy. He sacrifices everything - his whole life to fight against the corruption. His struggles are endless. This Taurus is just not going to give up. The Taurus keeps going. He is tireless.
So many times I hear that Taurus people are prone to be lazy and that they are just seeking luxury and an easy way out. I have to counter that. When we look at Taurus a little closer, there is an incredible force of persistence, strength and the will not to ever give up.
We may feel like our life is a struggle right now. Is the Sun in Taurus to blame? Does it perhaps reminds us that yes, indeed, our life is an uphill battle? This short movie-preview just ties these feelings all together. You may not want to watch it all, but anyway, Corrado Cattani dies at the end - he gets shot by his enemies. As a parallel, our dreams too, may never flower to their potential reality. Our ideas at work often get shot down. Our life may seem like we are going to nowhere. That is often my reality too.
But on the lighter note. There are moments that we all dream of a perfect little world. The second movie is one of my favorites - a song by Jimmy Cliff - I Can See Clearly Now. Jimmy Cliff, an Aries with a Capricorn Moon is a Jamaican musician, singer and actor. I Can See Clearly is an uplifting song. Jimmy Cliff goes his own way, like an Aries would, in the song he goes forth to create his own happiness within. Seeing the obstacles one may have but feeling overly positive and happy that things will be fine. I catch myself drifting into the fantasy land at times too just to be awaken by the reality. That is when La Piovra - The Octopus slaps me in the face. Wake up! And here I am, here we are. Two contrasting worlds, and our life always happens to unfold somewhere in between.

Move That Bull!
There is a show called Extreme Makeover: Home Edition hosted by Ty Pennington where they take a family home, send the family that lives in that home to a nice holiday and they (the crew) remodel or totally demolish and rebuild the house. When the family returns, there is a bus right in their view, in front of the house so they can't see the house and everyone shouts "Move that bus!" So the bus moves and the family screams of joy when they see their new dream home.
Taurus is about home, making of a home, the little and big luxuries we want or dream of. Taurus is the ruler of the Second House of Resources. This is interesting that in the time of the Hunger Games popularity (I will be writing about the Hunger Games later) some of us feel like we want to latch onto something familiar, cosy and happy.
But lets go back to the Extreme Makeover. There have been many times that I dreamed of Ty Pennington knocking on my door and saying - "Andrea, we are here to remodel your ancient home!" Wow! I am mostly a city girl who grew up in a country until I was in school. So the transition was big. Then I stayed in the city - just moved from one country to another. My life continued here but in the city until I moved way out to almost nowhere about eleven years ago. The adjustment was hard. And at night it was pitch dark. Most neighbours were over 80 years old - please don't get offended if some of you my dear readers are in that age category. I am a Pisces so one would think these transitions would be a piece of cake but with my Taurus Rising the changes were far the worst that I could have imagined. I have adjusted.
Where am I going with this? Well, I have longed to have a new home for a long time. Living in the forest and on the beach has been great. That all comes with a price - you are in the country, so there will always be animals around some of which you want to have around and some of which you rather not have around. You get the picture. Whales, eagles and deer is fine.
Months have gone by and my husband and I got through one remodel after another and that was not just changing the color of my kitchen cabinets, that was much more than that. Having all of my brand new Cutco pots and pans all around my living room to catch the rain while our Buddy the brown lab was trying to lick every bowl, was entertaining only for a short while. I guess you probably will not be eating dinner at my house for a while. Stuff always happened when my husband was at work, when he was gone things were always breaking, the roof was leaking... The winter wind storms left us without power many times and so I have learned to start the generator, to conserve water and so on. Our friends and family always felt great at our home. For all of you that long for a rustic life please know that the grass is always greener on the other side. This house also cost us many headaches and near divorce experiences. That all has passed know and we are laughing about that (until the next major thing brakes around here.)
This is were we raised our son until now and he is 10 now. The memories of our family time, get-togethers, having our son's friends over, going to the beach, going to the forest, having bonfires, having fun - I will miss all of that. One can't describe it all in one paragraph.
Moon in Cancer is making my sentimental thoughts about this home even more sentimental and clingy. Cancer Moon can make us feel clingy and since the Sun is in Taurus that can make us feel worried about losing something, like a home or someone. We are about to move closer to town, closer to our son's friends, closer to shopping. I guess it is official now - our house is almost sold. I will treasure these lovely memories of our home and I will try to forget about the bad ones.
Ty Pennington is not knocking on my door anytime soon. My Taurus Rising is getting yet another karmic experience - the experience of total detachment and letting go. That is challenge for Taureans and people that are Taurus Rising. Even though I am a Pisces, I am a Taurus rising with dominant planet Venus. Pisces would move anywhere, Pisces would adapt fast. Not the Taurus! The Bull wants to hold onto everything. My chart is a perfect example of how different our Sun sign can be from our Ascendant or Rising sign.
I am not ready to be a Matador and tame that bull. Instead of people shouting and chanting "Move That Bus" I hear a distant inner voice saying "Move That Bull!" and I say "Watch Out, Here It Comes!"
