The Winter Solstice and Capricorn

On December 21, 2011 – the day of the Winter Solstice the Sun moved into Capricorn. The Sun’s ingress of a cardinal sign indicates an initiation into a new season – therefore Capricorn is a cardinal sign.

Capricorn – determined, cautious, conservative, ambitious, reliable and loyal. True and tried - your Capricorn friend is there for you when you need to talk, when you need direction, when you need your closet organized.

In a nutshell, Capricorn is the tenth sign of the Zodiac – it rules the tenth House. Tenth House represents career, jobs, professional life and such. Therefore Capricorn is often very ambitious, hard-hard working and goal and career oriented. That does not necessarily mean that all people born under this sign are hard-working, studious and practical. Remember, we are a mosaic of all different signs and that is what makes astrology so exciting! Capricorn is an earth sign - very down-to-earth, practical and realistic.

Capricorn is ruled by the planet Saturn. In traditional astrological texts Saturn sometimes gets a bad reputation. Well, I think that Saturn simply represents wisdom through experience. Saturn is our teacher. We often remember teachers who taught us to think, who challenged us and pushed us to our limits. We do not need to fear Saturn. We need to embrace it and listen to what we need to learn, what there is to know, what it takes to better ourselves.

Capricorn people seem much older than their age – I am not talking about the physical appearance but their psyche. When I think of Capricorn I think of the movie Benjamin Button. Capricorn people are old before they are young. It is the only sign of the 12 where life literally goes in reverse!

Happy Birthday to all my Capricorn friends!
